How to Recognize National Stress Awareness Month

April is National Stress Awareness Month, do you know how to combat the everyday stress to which you are exposed.

Everyone experiences stress from time to time. And there are unfortunately some people that feel it more than others. It can be a real joy-killer, and if left unchecked it can lead to some major, real-life health issues that range anywhere from anxiety to severe depression, and from headaches to life-threatening heart attacks. It is safe to say that stress is more than just a mild annoyance. Here are a few ways that you can combat stress and live a more relaxed (and healthy) life.

  1. Exercise
One of the best ways you can combat stress is through exercise. Exercising just three to four times a week can have huge benefits as your brain releases those feel-good hormones, known as endorphins, and reduce your stress.
  2. Live in the Now
Many folks out there live their lives dwelling on the past and worrying too much about the future. While the past and future are important things to think about, constantly worrying about them is stressful. Live in the now and escape from the disappointment that once was and the fear of what might be.
  3. Laugh
Laughter can be the best medicine. When you laugh, your body releases–like it does with exercise–more endorphins which help reduce your stress. Laughter is, at times, the best medicine. Whether it be hanging out with friends or watching a funny YouTube clip or watching your favorite comedy.
