Revenue generated through CNIA supports the work of the Colorado Nonprofit Association in their leadership role to serve and strengthen the Colorado Nonprofit Community.

Meet Our Staff

Robin Medina, Chief Executive Officer

Robin Medina joined Colorado Nonprofit Insurance Agency in January 2011, bringing with her over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. Robin is responsible for all aspects of Colorado Nonprofit Insurance Agency, which include the Property & Casualty and Benefits divisions. She is also charged with the continued growth and development of Colorado Nonprofit Insurance Agency, while maintaining the financial integrity and stability of the organization. Robin holds licenses in Property and Casualty and Life and Health.

Prior to joining Colorado Nonprofit Insurance Agency, Robin held a management position for a Fortune 500 Company. There she led corporate business development for new sales agents. For most of her insurance career, Robin owned a successful insurance agency that she grew and developed. She sustained revenue and continued to make market gain during a highly competitive and changing marketplace. Robin was the recipient of numerous sales awards throughout her career.

Robin believes in developing strong relationships and designing the right insurance program for your unique nonprofit. Policy language is ever changing and an experienced team is vital to navigate the variety of insurance options available today. On a personal note, Robin has a beautiful and successful 30-year-old daughter, also in the insurance business. She also enjoys spending time with her handsome and active five-year-old grandson! Robin enjoys skiing, working on her home, gardening, biking, and reading. Robin has a great circle of friends that she enjoys spending time with.

William (Bill) Robertson, Director of Finance and Operations

“Bill joined Colorado Nonprofit Insurance Agency in June 2013. He brings more than 30 years’ experience in accounting and financial management in both nonprofit and healthcare related service industries to his dual role as Director of Finance and Operations. He received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration with a major of Finance from West Virginia University and a Master’s of Science in Management from Frostburg State University and passed the CPA exam in 1996.
Prior to joining Colorado Nonprofit Insurance Agency, Bill held financial positions from Director of Accounting to Chief Financial Officer for various rural hospitals, nonprofit, and corporate organizations. He was a member of the management team that converted a financially struggling 501c3 rural hospital into a secure special tax entity.
Bill and his wife, Sandy, have resided in Colorado since 1985. He enjoys the outdoors and the beautiful Colorado weather.

Linda Smith , Benefits Consultant

“Linda Smith joined the Colorado Nonprofit Insurance Agency team in February 2011. She is a licensed Health & Life Insurance broker and assists nonprofit groups in determining their unique group needs for health, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage while keeping nonprofit budgets at the forefront. She provides quotes for new and current groups as well as providing ongoing customer service to our nonprofit customers. Linda has worked in the insurance business over 20 years serving customer in a variety of industries but finds working with nonprofits the most rewarding.

In addition to her role at Colorado Nonprofit Insurance Agency, she has an extensive background in social services and adoption. She continues to provide adoption services on a limited basis for Colorado county departments of human services and is a past volunteer for Family Tree, a Colorado nonprofit organization. A Denver native she has lived in Hawaii and worked for the Family Court as a Juvenile Probation Officer.

Colorado is her home state where she raised her two children. Her son is a Licensed Professional Counselor and continues to build his own practice. He specializes in addiction counseling. Linda’s daughter is a state Public Defender working in the Grand Junction, Colorado office. Currently, Linda resides in Parker, Colorado and enjoys socializing with friends and family, cooking, reading, and spending time with her new infant grandson.

Ruth Sanchez, Customer Relationship Specialist

“Ruth Sanchez joined Colorado Nonprofit Insurance Agency in September 2012 bringing over 25 years of Business experience. Ruth holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Wellness. After an internship at Coors Wellness Center in Golden, CO, Ruth fell in love with Colorado and decided to make it her home. Ruth has worked in both profit & nonprofits, such as the National Hispana Leadership Institute where she coordinated and managed, Conexion Latina, a five city leadership program, in Albuquerque, Chicago, Denver, Miami, and San Antonio. In addition to nonprofits, Ruth worked thirteen years in banking, receiving the President’s Award for outstanding business development and customer service. Outside of work, Ruth enjoys volunteering her time with seniors and the elderly, and veteran’s organizations. Ruth enjoys activities such as yoga, hiking, walking, biking, reading, and gardening, Ruth has three children and four very active grandchildren.
